Name Needed For Obgyn Practice

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Hi guys,

Am needing to brainstorm a few ideas for a new OBGYN practice in my city and would really appreciate your input and expertise;

About the Practice;

- 5 OBGYNs working in conjunction with midwives
- Marketed a a new paradign in care (i.e. Specialists + Midwives working together)
- 30+ babies delivered per month
- Pre-natal and post-natal care

Maternity, Pregancy, Birth, Care are all buzz words.

This is my first time posting here and I really look forward to discussing this further.

Many thanks,
James

Why not simply "CityName Obstetrics Team"?
    Or, any of the following:
    Helping Hands Obstetrics
    360º ObGyn
    Holistic Maternity Care
    Synergy Obstetrics

IS the term Obstetrics and Gynaecology a bit medical/clinical - or in marketing terms - a bit too product or service orientated?

Perhaps appealing to the softer side might work. Ob/Gyn is all about Motherhood, or Parenthood, is it not? Would a name like (Placename) Motherhood Centre work in your marketplace? You haven't mentioned your location, but I infer from your Ob/Gyn terminology it's somewhere in the USA.

A tagline along the lines of "Personalised specialist care from conception to early childhood" or "Personalised care from the very beginning of life"...

    Hope that helps.

Thanks for your suggestions Jay and Chris, I really appreciate them.

I very much agree with the sentiment that Obstetrics and Gynaecology are a bit medical/clinical and even scary for first time mothers.

It's really about finding a nice middle ground between clinical/professional and nurturing/caring in the name and I guess that's what we're having a bit of trouble with.

I'm actually in NZ but assumed the majority of people around here would be American and more familiar with the OB/GYN terminology. Turns out you're just across the ditch anyway Chris!

We would like to make it location-centric, but our direct competitor is Shore Birth (as in North Shore of Auckland) so the most obvious/best one here is already taken annoyingly :)

I really like that first tagline - I think Personalised + Specialist really hits the nail on the head.

Was tossing up Birth Place (domain is available too which is a bonus),

    - Birthing Partners
    - Birth Beginnings
    - Maternal Care
    - Birthing Partners
    - Gynaecare

Would prefer to emphasise that hybrid/partnership between the specialist and the midwife.

Some of the partners simply like Baby Doctors, but I think it gives the impression of Paediatrics rather than than OB/GYN.

Again, I really appreciate your help guys. If you can offer any other advice i'd be so grateful!

    Cheers

One further thought on differentiation is to state something that you do as a practice that few others do (or say they do*). Best of all is something that only you can do (or are prepared to do). Testing these for effectiveness in your market is essential.

In the mean time, a few suggestions for you:

    BabyLanding
SoftLanding [obscure but when used in context would make sense]
    Bumpcare
    Cares4bumps
Gyncare [could be confused with gym]
HelpingTheStork [lots of Europeans in NZ; they'll understand, especially with a graphic]

(*This is less valuable but can set you apart until others catch up - by which time you wheel out your second differentiator and retain your lead in the market).

I am thinking instead of Maternal Care maybe make it one word. Maternicare ? I don't know, is that obvious enough?...Middoctor Birthing / Midwife M.D.
