Client Store Policy

Posted by sewatseams custom tailor on 250 Points
I own a custom tailoring, design and alterations business. I've been commissioned by the historic society to custom make several garments for an upcoming summer celebration. I need help with ideas and suggestion in writing a client policy for custom clothing orders. This particular client purchase some fabrics and notions to make the garments.
I have a sign posted in my shop "All custom clothing orders requires a 50% deposit before any custom tailoring work will begin". I have a sign posted For a fitting fee to be paid at the time of the appointment.

These fittings can take thirty minutes to and hour, or more. I also provide consultation, prior to any fitting appointment and do not charge for it and I know I should, somehow incorporate this time spent into the policy. I need a policy that spells out exactly what services and I will provide for the potential client. And what to expect from the client.

I need your help once again,

Thank you,

Patricia

Why don't you make a list of the specific things you want to be sure to cover in the policy, and then pay a copywriter to make it look like an official store policy document? This shouldn't be terribly difficult or expensive, as long as you have been thorough and specific as to what the policy covers. And that first part is something YOU will have to do, since you're the only one who really knows and understands all the ins and outs of your business.

Make your list as Mr Goodman suggest...
    1/3 payment up front
    1/3 upon fitting and refits
    1/3 upon completion
