What Makes A Sucessful Blog?

Hi i would like to pick your experts brains and ask what do you all think makes a successful , well read blog? is there a formula to writing the perfect blog? and could you read mine and tell me what you all think and what i need to do when writing my next one. Take note i am a student trying to find his feet so be gentle ha :) .

    In a word: readers. I'm taking a short break from this morning's stuff and will happily add more later. Carl, there's more to it than this and more to cover (which I'm happy to do off forum).

    You need to strike a chord that resonates with your readership. Finding your feet is as much knowing who you are - and finding out who they are. Because you'll not be speaking to all Gen-Yers, will you? You'll be speaking to those who like your style ;-)

    1. Know your target audience well.

    2. Be genuine. No B.S. Assume the audience is at least as smart as you are.

    3. Write about stuff that is of interest/value to your target audience. Make it worth their while to read it.

    4. Proofread everything at least twice. Make sure every post is factually correct, spelled properly and has good grammar/usage. The rules of good journalism apply.
