How Important Is Ecofriendly Mdse To You

Posted by Anonymous on 25 Points
Currently do small fairs advertising eco friendly. Sell accessories made from buttons, zippers and old levis. Also sell vintage clothes. Make purses, pillows and aprons from old rock t-shirts. Very unique items. Planning to do bigger shows like Rose Bowl swap meet. Do you think people are really interested in "Eco Friendly" items?
Current name is "Eco Friendly Designs" It doesn't state the kind of merchandise I sell so I explain to each customer the concept. After taking the time most people will buy an item. By the way, my starting price point is $5.00.

What KIND of button and zipper accessories?

The term "eco friendly" may not be serving you as well as a terms such as recycled or reused might serve you.

Who is your typical buyer and how much do they spend once they get the idea?

Can you also produce enough merchandise to offer a range of times in a collection for sale online?

In terms of the cost (in time) for production, what are your margins per sale?

One other point. To me, the term "eco made" really does't mean that much, but then, I'm probably not your ideal buyer. Connect your offers to the people most likely to buy from you and move forward from there. Additionally, at fairs, are you taking any steps to collect people's names and e-mail addresses so as to continue a relationship with them? Do you drive traffic of any sort to any kind of social media platform?

What we think is probably not the right way to assess the potential for this business. There are obviously some people who are super-supportive of "eco-friendly," and that's probably your primary target audience. The question is whether there are enough of those folks to enable you to meet your sales objective, and how much it will cost you to reach those folks.

So what is your objective? Have you thought through a rough business plan? Are you satisfied with what you can earn by going to the small fairs? Are you in this for the money, or do you just enjoy what you do and feel strongly about eco-friendly stuff?

Yes, Eco-status is in. Just look at the case for wealthy people buying the Toyota Prius which ".. remains a symbol of a driver’s commitment to the environment".

To some, it makes a different. They will search out places to buy things like this and pay more for it than if it was not eco friendly. To others, eco friendly doesn't matter and it being eco friendly won't affect their buying decision at all.

The challenge is to get your product in front of more of the people who care, and spend less time/effort/money trying to reach the people who don't care.
