Not Getting People To Our Sight ,sale Conversions

Posted by yachtsavayla on 250 Points
Launched 3 weeks ago. Posted on FB, twitter. Had worked on a decent business related twitter followership. Our product is unique and a niche market. Still more products to come.

Budget is a problem. Everyday I tweet, FB, have started to guest write on another site with links to our website. Just one article so far. Sending out press releases.

Doesn't seem to make a difference. It is now a trickle to our site. When they do come they average about 3-4 minutes on the site. Have had 700 visits. 600 unique. Most referrals come from FB and then twitter. Bounce rate is 41 %. Avg. No. Of pages per visit is 3. Are reaching the right countries.

Have changed prices, tweaked the content so it is more about what we can help them with, not all about the product.

Am aware that our visuals are just not good enough. Busy working on that.

Working on SEO, but as rookies didn't do that before the launch.

Where are we going wrong.

When I tweet I am trying not to spam so do lots of retweeting stories, sharing, our own stuff. Handle is @therugbybox. Wish I could just sell outright like so many shops on twitter.

Same with cold emailing journalists and bloggers. Scared I will be spamming.

Thanks

Tanya

What kind of research did you do on your buyers and their desire to buy rugby-related materials BEFORE you set up your site? Therein may lie your problem. Although the subject may be of
interest to you, it may not be of enough interest to potential buyers to get them to open their
    wallets.

Hi Gary. Thanks for responding. We did a lot of research in terms of sports posters, rugby memorabilia, etc, making sure there was a market for them. There are many sites for rugby posters, however, most of them are photos, old memorabilia, etc.

Might it be that the other sites stock what they stock because rugby fans want photo-based materials? Your graph approach, while different may be too far from people's experiences to appeal to their buying habits and preferences.

Hi Gary, I get your point. However, it's also important to have a unique product. There are lots of very successful websites that sell similar products to ours , but not rugby. We have had very good response from people, including a major company wanting to take them to their charity events to raise money and to auction two of them off.

Have you done any face-to-face interviews with prospective customers? Right now it sounds like you'll have to guess why people aren't buying, and that's a long/slow process. Can you go to various Rugby forums and ask people what they think of your site (and give them a thank-you for their honest responses)?

Hi Jay. No we haven't done that yet. The actual people who have seen them as opposed to on line, have loved them and we even sold one straight away. We are thinking of doing a road show, and perhaps getting reps. Good idea regarding asking rugby forums. I will work on that. Is there anything when you see the website that screams out as being wrong ?

There are no images of people using, admiring, or interacting with the product. Might this be giving the wrong signal or impression?

Is the site supposed to appeal to rugby fans? Looks more like a graphic display exhibit. Needs to get the rugby-fan juices flowing ... people, action, some excitement ... so people know what you're selling without having to scroll or read a lot of copy.

Both good points regarding visuals and it looking like an art exhibit. It was set up for specific target market but I think we may have got that wrong.
