Clever Name

Posted by nettiek42 on 25 Points
Hi! We run a 5K walk/run in memory of a friend. The money goes towards a shelter that was built in our small local town at the softball park in her name. We have done this on Thanksgiving for three years and called it the Turkey Trot. We are moving it to the summer because the weather doesn't always cooperate in the winter. WE are looking for a new catchy name. Any ideas or help would be great.

Leave the name just as it is but add the word Summer at the beginning.

If you change the name too much you lose 3 years' worth of visibility and share of mind.

Is it mostly the same people each year? If so, I second Gary's first response. You want to capitalize on the brand loyalty you've created.

If it's mostly new people each year, you might want to do some research among the drop-outs to see why they didn't come back. This could be an opportunity to make some important changes and re-brand to emphasize those changes ... and perhaps get some of your rejectors back.

    toasty turkey trot
    sun run
    turkey sun run

Also, maybe consider adding the memorial as a tag to help with transition

    ie:
    sun run
    in memorial of xxxxx
