Is My Website Why I Am Not Generating Sales?

Posted by briannam.2009 on 125 Points
I have recently started an online boutique as well as an online store for bow ties. However, I have not generated any sales at all. People are visiting the sites but no one is buying. I am trying to figure out what it is that I need to change. Could my websites be a reason why I am not getting sales? If so, where can I improve?

You need solid, clear calls to action; you need your own domain (the Moonfruit suffix isn't helping you); you need images on your home page that people can click on in order to buy from you; your "About" page tells me nothing about you, your story, or why you're in business. You need a dedicated e-mail address (rather than an MSOutlook address) You need a two-click buying action (it's currently four), and you need your own shopping cart.

All of this will boost your online credibility. As will a blog and a way for people to sign up for updates and special offers.

    Good luck.

Gary has given you some great suggestions. I would add two more:

    1. Consider how site visitors find you. What are they expecting? Do you promise them a benefit or an attractive offer of some kind? Is that what they see when they get to your site? If there's a message mismatch most people will hit the back button.

    2. Disembodied bow-ties are not nearly as interesting as those on a happy wearer. Give folks a chance to see the products in use, and to identify with the happy, satisfied model.

Thank you all for your feedback. We are a new company and have a lot to learn. Your advise is truly appreciated and I will be applying most of it. I did not realize how much my websites were lacking before hearing it. Now I definitely see where I can make improvements. Thanks again!
