Logo Ideas & Tagline Needed For Art/garden Biz

Posted by teachvisualart on 125 Points
So I have decided to go with Athena & Me. She is the goddess of art, agriculture and wisdom. I am an art teacher, artist, and gardener. I am looking to start an online store selling my art (jewelry, scarves, stained glass, paintings, etc), products from the garden, (canned pickled okra, homemade pastas, dried herbs) etc. I am trying to incorporate a logo that has a pitchfork, artist pallet, and owl (for wisdom and Athena's signature animal). I need a tag line. I am open to anything right now as I am brainstorming. My twitter handle right now is NC Art & Garden. Maybe something like Blooming Art, Smart Art etc incorporated. Ideas at all? I would eventually like a storefront where I can carry artwork/fine gifts as well. Thank you!

Since "Athena & Me" doesn't describe what you're selling or to who, it's important that your tagline help clarify your message. Consider: Garden-Inspired Crafts Nature-Inspired Gifts.

I suggest you avoid piling too many visual elements into your logo. No one cares about the icons, they are about whatever's in the relationship for themselves. If you need a logo I suggest you stick with one image.

Who is the primary target audience? Where?

Jay and Gary both make good points. Keep it simple. Tell what you do (since the name doesn't).

The name and tagline together (and the logo) should communicate a single-minded benefit or attraction that your target audience can easily remember. If you get too clever (and complicated), they'll just tune out altogether.

This is probably a case where "less is more." The name alone is two different things. If you add a tagline and a complex logo, you'll confuse/overload your target audience.

Great responses everyone. Ive decided to go back to an old name. Granny McCoys (we are the McCoys from Hatfields and McCoys). Tagline: Country Fine Creations. What do you think?

The name and tagline don't tell what you do or sell. "Country Fine Creations" could be food, clothing, crafts, musical instruments, or even distilled spirits. And "Granny McCoys" may be memorable, but it doesn't communicate anything except, perhaps, genuine old-time country, and/or stuff for old folks.

You may want to go back to square one and answer some basic questions for yourself: Who is the primary target audience? Where? What important and unique benefit are we offering them?

When you have those answers you will be ready to begin the naming process.
