Site Traffic Not Generating Sales

Posted by andrew on 125 Points
I have just launched my online business at https://theadventurousmailbox.com. Traffic is good so far, but it is not translating into sales. We have an awesome product and defined customer, so I am obviously frustrated. If anyone could offer advice after taking a peek at our website how to get more sales from our traffic, I would extremely appreciative!

Many thanks

Personally I struggled to understand what you're offering.

You say "An awesome package arrives from abroad addressed to your child. Thrilled he or she tears it open to find amazing books of adventure introducing world cultures"

    You're selling books?

"We offer captivating adventures taking place in every corner of the globe and arriving in funky packages from abroad to boot."

How does an adventure arrive in a package? The words are too abstract and too many generalities - package, child, adventure, characters, activities, secret community. Give me specifics. What package? What's in it? Why is it awesome? What do you do with these things? Use names and examples. To borrow a literary cliche Show don't Tell.

Have people signup for the first month for free (when they give you their credit card #, which you don't charge).
Ask prospective customers why they would or would not sign up (i.e., talk to people, don't just wait for your traffic to magically press the "buy" book).

Saul, Thanks so much for the feedback! We have redesigned our homepage to give a much clearer look at what we offer.
