When Does Google Penalizes You For Content?

I want to know, If google penalizes your website when you re-post an article written on a different site but you put in the link sources.

    BUT, it's worth bearing in mind that it's best to create content for PEOPLE, not for search engines.

    Let me be a little more specific. Lets say a websites posts an article and decided to copy and paste that article to my website with the link to the original article.

    how would google react to that?

    If you're going to do this, you may be better off writing a new headline and writing a short 100 to 200 word overview of the article and then including a link to the original article. This way, you create original content in the guise of your new headline and introduction, and you retain the authority of the original post.
