O&g Co - Maximing Utilization

Posted by Anonymous on 50 Points
Hi MPs,

Need a catchy phrase for use on our company presentation slides (Upstream Oil & Gas industry). It should be related to maximizing the use of our assets, preferably not more than 20 characters, and sound optimistic.

Our previous tagline was something along the lines of "Continued Growth" used in the past few years.

Look forward to hearing your suggestions.

Thank you!

Who is the audience for this presentation and why do you think you need something "catchy"? What might be your reaction if your clients were to ask for results that were more oily or gassy? I tend to think of "catchy" in the same way. Forget "catchy". Focus on relevance.

    Hi Gary,

The intended audiences are 1) investors and 2) potential clients - this tagline will be present in all our company presentations, which will be used in exhibitions, seminars, conferences and distributed in client meetings. It will (likely) also be on the front page of our annual report.

I agree with you that it should be more relevant (to the current O&G situation, precisely) rather than "catchy". I've come up with three so far (although not particularly satisfied with any of them); and as an external audience, what do you think/feel when a company adopts any one of these taglines?

What underlying message are you trying to convey? What's notable about your company in the minds of your target audience? Why are you wanting to change your existing tagline?

    Hi Jay,

Thank you for prompting such questions. Given the downturn in the O&G sector as a whole, we thought a more appropriate message should be one that shows stability, i.e. we are going to work with what (assets) we have, rather than trying to grow our company (expanding headcount, acquiring more companies / assets). So the "growth" tagline is no longer appropriate in my view.

The questions being posted are certainly helping with the tagline & I thank you and Gary for that, will give it more thought.
