Web Designer - Houston

I am based in Australia, but need to source a web designer to design a new B2B company website. I work for the parent company and need to do the leg work and then will hand over to the team.

I have done some online searches for companies but finding it is difficult as some don't get back to and being based in Australia inevitably restricts my geographical searching.

Does anyone have hints or tips on selecting a vendor when you are not in the same country or timezone?

    No clever ideas to help you, but I have been quite satisfied with work done by a web designer in Austin, Texas. Let me know via email (in my profile) if you want her contact info. I also have a few other designers in the U.S. who might be good, depending on specific requirements.
