"Tricky" promotions usually backfire. Prospects (and customers) don't like being tricked.

Try instead offering real value -- great product, fair pricing, impeccable customer service, and even a little bonus surprise when you close the sale. Let happy and satisfied customers tell their friends how you exceeded their expectations.

Are you trying to sell a pair of shoes or trying to sell customers shoes for life (customer acquisition)? If the latter, it's all about the value your providing your customer (not simply the price of the shoes).
