How Do You Choose A Promotional Products Company?

Posted by saratogahiker on 125 Points
I'm looking to buy some promotional products for my new start-up business, but am not sure what type of products work best or what sites are good. I'm thinking pens might work well and would be relatively inexpensive..?

Also, what company/website is good? What should I be looking for this type of company? I've heard of Vistaprint, Amsterdam Printing, 4imprint, and inkhead; does anyone have any experience with these or others?

Thank you!

Pens work well: those people picking them up tend to hang on to them for a long time, thereby extending the length of your marketing spend.

In my experience, the larger companies tend to overprice on all kinds of lines, which is both annoying and counter-productive in terms of generating new business.

I've been buying these kinds of promotional items on and off for almost 30 years and I rarely give product or provider recommendations. When I DO find a supplier I like, I tell people. Lots of people.

I much, much prefer going to smaller companies for items like this, and of all the companies I looked at last year when I had highly specific needs, the ONLY company that came through for me on price, delivery, and style—and that I'd use again in a heartbeat—is a company here on the east coast: Unique Impressions. Here's a link: https://www.uniqueonline.com.

My contact there is the Director of Business Development: Robin McCormick.

Robin is a star. An absolute treasure.

In the summer of 2014, and when FIVE other MAJOR suppliers could not or would not meet my highly specific needs on a project for embroidered laptop bags, Robin massively over-delivered in a way that's rare to see these days. The next time I need any kind of promotional item, there is only one person I'll work with: Robin.

When there was no hope in sight, Robin went out of her way to shepherd the project through production, while also taking ownership to ensure the goods were shipped from California to Delaware overnight.

I highly, HIGHLY recommend you contact Robin, toll free in the United States, on: 1-800-504-2618.

Thanks for the comment; to clarify, I would like a company that utilizes an online studio so I can create and preview my promotional products.

FWIW, I've used 4imprint and been quite satisfied. I've also used Myron Business Gifts (for higher-end merchandise) and found them to be good too. Both operate online. No problems.
