Tagline Husband/wife Industrial Farm Furniture Biz

Posted by sodak on 250 Points
For over 3 years my wife and I have successfully been operating a side business of designing, creating, and building custom furniture/decor. We are at a stage now were we would like to make it in to something more. Our design style is industrial farm house. The demo target is mostly female 18-55. The name of our business is Sota & Dakota. We live in the mid west (USA). Operate out of North Dakota and store our inventory/supplies in Minnesota. I'm from MN. My wife from ND. Hence the business name.

My wife is an artist and I a carpenter. She adds elegant design to my rustic, durable furniture builds. We want a tagline that relates to elements and features of our product line and the geography of the mid west. Heartland, farm house/industrial style, barns, grain, rustic, timber, handcrafted, discovery, cabin, style with strength, are a few words that come to mind. With all that we've been trying to tie all this into the fact that we are a husband and wife business. Every piece is something we have or would build for ourselves. We would like a tagline that is memorable. Something that tells the potential buyer that our furniture would be perfect for their home. We like to say each of our products is one-of-kind, unique. Each individually handcrafted and designed by just my wife and I. Each product has it's own story.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks!

    Hi MonMark-

    Thanks for the response, but with all due respect how do you know that we don't already have all this setup? I didn't know I needed to include all details of the business. I came to a marketing forum looking for marketing advice/inspiration. We have been working within a business structure since the beginning and are well on our way to further establishing everything that you've mentioned. We are only two people trying to build this while also working full time jobs. So I'm reaching out here to help inspire us in areas we do not have time to invest in to right now.

    Thanks

    Your post, while rich in information, is mostly about YOU and what you do. The tagline though should be mostly about your primary target audience, and the unique and compelling benefit they can expect if/when they buy your stuff.

    The closest you get to this is "mostly female 18-55" in the US/Midwest. What else do you know about your target audience? There are probably millions of "mostly female 18-55" folks in the US/Midwest. What's different about your target audience? What lifestyle? Psychographics? Have you actually interviewed a few dozen of these folks to see what words they use, what their evaluation/purchase criteria are? How do they find out about you?

    Tell us more about what's important to your primary target audience, and we'll craft a great tagline for you.

    Firstly, GREAT outline of your business. Refreshing to see just the right amount of detail on here. And I love the name. And the back story. To encapsulate that in a tagline is tricky, so that's why you've asked.
    My first thought is;

    Sota & Dakota
    Enduring & Alluring

    But I'll have a think and come back with more if they occur to me. Good luck. I'd really like to see some pics of the furniture… my interest is piqued!
