Brand Name And Tag Line

I am starting a new venture in Canada where I will sell hand block printed textiles and accessories . the products will include Quilts , Bed Cover , Silk Scarfs , Silk Jackets , Cushion Covers Men Shirts . The products will be imported from India. Skilled craftsmen stamp the cloth using carved wooden blocks to imprint the designs unto the fabric. Depending on the number of colours and the inticracy of the designs the printer hand stamps the cloth 500-2000 times to complete a set of bedlinen.Block-printed textiles are handmade products and the printing process is lengthy and complex. No piece is identical. Small spots and imperfections can occur from the printing process.

Is this something that satisfies a real need in the Canadian market, or is it just something you HOPE will appeal to Canadians? Have you run a pilot test or a concept test with your target audience? If so, what did you learn? Why did the market embrace the idea? If not, that's where you need to begin -- not with a name and tagline.

The name and tagline need to resonate with your target audience. They need to find your CONCEPT appealing. You can't fool people with a name and a tagline. They'll evaluate your product based on the benefit they perceive compared to the cost.

All of this is to say that the name/tagline is more about the target audience and the benefit you'll deliver to them than it is about the features of what you're hoping to sell them. If you want our input on naming (and tagline), give us some information about the target audience -- who are they, how do they make purchase decisions, what are their most important needs, values, habits, practices, attitudes and behaviors?

An observation: It looks like you have multiple target audiences. That's a problem from a marketing standpoint, as each market has a different set of needs. It's going to be difficult to satisfy them all with a single benefit-oriented name/tagline. You might want to focus on just one segment initially.

    Hi ,

Yes, ofcourse I have done my research before launching in Canada . People love this stuff and appreciate handmade . I would say my products are high end , people who appreciate quality and style . Each item is a piece of art . I have laid special emphasis on to explain the process and time it takes to print the fabric with hand . In lay man language if a flower with 3 colors is to printed then 3 different blocks are made and used . 3 times the block is pressed on the fabric . There is an art with which the block needs to be pressed so the color effect is same all over the fabric.

Target Audience : Will be people who appreciate handmade . The price point is high but not exorbitant. Say our silk scarves will be $50-$60 . Quilts $250- $300 (Queen Size) . Jackets $200
People who have sophisticated lifestyle. People who want to wear unique outfits or use quality home textiles. Some of our products include vegetable dyes . So people who believe in organic stuff . People who like interior designers , artists or who believe less stuff but quality stuff, one of a kind stuff .People who dont want to clutter their closet with everything but few valuable things .
People who want to give unique value gifts .People who seek appreciation for what they buy.

    Hope it helps.
