Marketing A Computer Repair Business

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
My uncle has a computer repair business and I would like to help him market his business. Do you have any ideas to market a computer repair business? I would appreciate your help. Thanks.

Start by identifying why people choose to hire his services instead of the competition. Then, try to get more people like those. Remember that people won't be contacting him until there's a problem - so the challenge is to think like a prospective client - where would they look for help - and market his business in those locations. If he doesn't currently have a Yelp page, consider starting there.

Is the business mostly focused on individual users or small businesses/home offices?

What kinds of repairs are most common? (Does he do software installs and upgrades, or just hardware?)

I agree with the above posts. If you provide more information, we can be more targeted and specific in our advice.

In my local area, we have a community bulletin board of sorts where local people sell things and share recipes and promote events and so on. A number of computer repair and similar companies actively participate and apparently find business using our local site. Is there something similar there?

Regarding outreach, I think you need to draw a distinction between sizes of business. It might make sense to invest money in directly approaching a small number of medium-sized to larger size organizations. You might offer something like a free computer cleaning or something. It probably makes less sense to invest in directly approaching individuals or people with home offices.

If I personally had a computer repair business, I would also consider doing some sort of a free computer or technology-related seminar (or series of seminars) on timely topics. Good luck.
