How To Ask For Sponsorship For Weight Loss

Posted by handcuffs1 on 125 Points
Hi,
Seeking basic advice on how/what to write to companies asking them to provide me with products (such as protein powder, gym gear). I am an Aussie lady, quite overweight and about to make a life change. Setting up a website is in the plan for documenting the journey etc.
Have never ever written to a company asking for something, so not sure what to say or how to convince them to give me a chance to prove what I can do. I understand they would have to take my word for it that I will do what I say. Any advice most appreciated

If you're planning to document your journey to health, then why don't you start by documenting your life now, and showcase how many people look up to you in your community? Potential sponsors will get a better idea of your "reach" and then be able to judge if you'd be a good spokesperson for their brand.

Ok that's a great idea Jay. I can't say I am "well known" as such in the community, however I am active in different groups. Thanks for the tips !

Though it's a life change for you, it's a business investment for them. There may be an argument to keep this off the public screen until you've accomplished substantial progress. Then, it can be written-up as a case study. There's less business risk that way. You may want that as a backup plan if no one wants to be hanging out there with you in real time.

Thanks Mike. So to clarify - I should wait until I have made some progress with perhaps some photos and diary entries etc them write to them to see if they want to join in ? Then they would feel more confident right in what they are being part of hopefully !
