Marketing...yourself!

Posted by katyonak1 on 50 Points
Hi
For family reasons, I have recently resigned from my position as the Regional Head of Marketing for a global Telecommunications firm.

However, I have around 20-30 hours per week to spare, and would like to use this opportunity to continue working from home, either as a sole-trade or a contractor (as no company is likely to hire me on my terms).

Considering, I do not have much hands-on experience, apart from occasional copywriting, I am lost for ideas of what I can offer to the market, and consequently how would I position myself.

Your ideas or stories from an ex-marketing employee gone solo would be much appreciated.

Many thanks
Katia

The position from which you resigned suggests you've had some years of experience in the marketing arena. Though you've little hands-on experience you most likely have contacts, or at least some idea who does what, or at least what needs to be done to accomplish marketing goals.

You could try the paradigm they've perfected in the building industry- General contractor/sub contractors. You could play the GC (organizing) role. Sell the fact that you know how to organize and execute projects for your clients. GCs don't tell clients all about the subs they hire... GCs tell/show clients about the high quality results in store for them.
