How To Avoid Spam Filter

Posted by thrashtanisha on 250 Points
Hi all, we use HubSpot and are seeing many of our emails end up in our internal SPAM filter. I fear the same is happening with emails sent to our customers as our open rates are pretty low. Does anyone have ideas on how to avoid SPAM filters when using an email service provider? I've spoken to a couple of IT professionals with no luck.

Avoid certain words in your subject lines (words such as "free", "sale", and "deadline" all seem to trip spam filters). Who is the e-mail sender? How did recipients get on the list to begin with? Was there a double opt-in?

Are you using a dedicated IP address or a shared IP to send emails? The latter can easily trigger spam filters. See: https://www.hubspot.com/products/email/dedicated-ip

If you are paying Hubspot for service, it should be up to them to keep their IP addresses off spam blacklists.

As has already been said, certain words used in your email message body and subject line could be triggering spam filters. You may want to test your messages BEFORE sending them to find out what you can change content wise, subject line and ore using this free service: https://www.mail-tester.com

You may want to check your email newsletter sign up process to ensure double opt in. Also, low open rates do tend to show that folks may have lost interest or are not as interested in your offerings. You might want to create a customer panel from your customers to find out if your offers are not interesting or just not enticing enough.
