Reputation Management Services

I'm looking at a few different companies for Reputation Management Services. What is the average cost for these services? I've seen $299 per location to $49 for one location. I'm looking at endorsing and promoting one service to 216 retailers.

How will it help to know the average cost? And wouldn't it be necessary to assess the value each provides?

It's like asking how much dinner costs. You can have mac-and-cheese at home for under a dollar or lobster, steak and wine at a fancy restaurant for $100+. Just because the average is $51 doesn't make that average useful.

I'll tell you why: I am working with 216 different small businesses with retail sales volume between $2 and $50 million. These are retailers in 46 states; some are paying $49 a month and others are paying $299 for reputation management. Before I make a recommendation to rest of the 214, I need to know the scope of what others are paying for a listening dashboard and a review enablement utility. I have a demo this afternoon with the $49 option and I have reviewed a $299 option, but what I don't have is a good read on what is necessary to invest. Is the $299 option overkill? Is the $49 option robust enough? That's why I posted the question!

    1. If what you want are simply "a listening dashboard and a review enablement utility" you should be sure the $299 option provider understands that. They may be offering a lot more in their package. If not, ask them directly why you should spend so much more (than $49). I suspect they'll have a good answer.

    2. I'd also ask the $49 option supplier if there are optional upgrades or other charges. How can they offer the service for so much less than the $299 competitor? You want to be careful that you are not recommending a stripped-down solution that either doesn't do the job or surprises your clients with additional charges.

I still don't understand how knowing the average -- or even the range -- of costs will help you with this. What if the answer is that the range is $50-500, with an average of $225? How will that affect your decision -- especially if the offerings are not all exactly the same?
