Job Description:
Vanguard is a leading independent supplier of mainframe-based information security software worldwide. Our software protects hundreds of Fortune 500 corporations, including the majority of money center banks, leading government agencies, and major international companies. Vanguard software provides a complete suite of authentication, authorization, and audit functionality that enables companies to protect their critical assets and insure that they comply with government regulations like Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA, and Basel II.

Vanguard is poised for a major growth spurt as it extends its leadership throughout the enterprise with a new suite of standards-based authentication services for hundreds of hardware devices and software applications.

To lead this expansion, Vanguard is looking for a Director of Marketing to manage its marketing operations in the U.S. and support distributor channels worldwide.

BASIC PURPOSE

Works under the CEO direction to achieve the company’s marketing, business development, and product plan objectives.

The successful candidate will be responsible for all marketing channels in North America and the international reseller channel.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• 10+ years of experience in marketing/sales
management for leading computer software or
other high technology companies. A history of
successful B2B software sales is a mandatory
requirement for this position.
• Demonstrated ability to achieve or exceed
quarterly and yearly quotas for sales leads and
business development.
• Demonstrated ability to achieve significant
growth through new account development and
expansion of existing accounts
• Demonstrated ability to market enterprise
software, security software, and/or mainframe
software to business-to-business customers.
• Demonstrated ability to support indirect
marketing channels in the form of resellers,
VARs, and distributors.
• Demonstrated ability to manage product
introductions and the product planning process.
• Demonstrated ability to manage public
relations, advertising, analyst relations, and
other marketing communications functions.
• Possess strategic and analytical skills as well
as marketing skills at CXO management.
• Must have solid knowledge enterprise software
products.
• Computer literacy.

people skills.

• Selling, contract negotiation skills.
• Leadership and supervisory skills.
• Self-motivated.
• Telephone communication skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and achieve quarterly and yearly
marketing plan, lead generation, business
development, product planning, PR, Marcom, and
profit objectives.

• Maintain accurate monthly, quarterly, and
yearly lead pipelines and forecasts and report
them to management.

• Develop collateral and selling processes for
the inside sales, direct sales, domestic
resellers, and international distributor
departments.

• Develop reporting facilities and daily
coordination with department managers to track
progress and activity on projects that utilize
marketing resources.

• Coordinate training of marketing and sales
personnel in regards to Vanguard products,
competition, and best sales practices.

• Perform customer, prospect, and analyst
presentations for Vanguard products.

• Know and understand the industry, the
marketplace, the customer, and the competitors.

• Reward and recognize the members of the
marketing team and keep them motivated.

• Possess sufficient knowledge of the products
and the ability to convey the value of the
products to potential and existing customers.

• When required, participate in customer/user
training and other sales related seminars.

• Partner with Sales to maintain contact
management database and reporting.

• Work with Sales to develop, and implement
standardized scripting and call-handling
strategies, monitor for effectiveness.

• Work with sales to define and develop
appropriate sales tools for new and existing
products and services.

• Evaluate the effectiveness of all
sales/marketing promotions.

• Special assignments as required.

• Travel required.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

Bachelor’s in business administration degree or equivalent experience. Ten plus years business related experience in the computer industry working with top level management. IBM Mainframe experience is highly valued.

Communicate clear and concise English.
