Marketing Coordinator
Johns Hopkins University
Advanced Academic Programs
Washington, DC Campus

Located in the Northwest district of Washington D.C., this position will assist the Communications & Marketing Manager in the design of collateral (brochures, print/electronic ads, direct mail pieces, flyers, etc) and implement marketing campaigns (consisting of a mix of communication tools) targeting prospective students for The Johns Hopkins University Advanced Academic Programs (AAP) graduate programs. Marketing Collateral Design. Works independently, in consultation with the Communications & Marketing Manager, to use knowledge of current graphic design software to create and produce graphic art and visual materials for the design and production of marketing and informational collateral such as advertisements, brochures, flyers, etc.; meets regularly with Associate Program Chairs and Administrative Managers/Directors to suggest format and design options for design projects; creates electronic banner ads and push email creative using HTML and XTML; assists the web development team with translating communications initiatives to the AAP website. Responsible for compliance with KSAS and JHU guidelines for use of logo and other design elements in marketing and communications; helps develop and formulate new marketing methods to reach potential clients - especially through the use of web and other electronic resources; assists with copy development; assists with publicizing marketing events and helps to staff academic recruitment events; learns new design technologies and processes as assigned.

Managing Activities with Outside Vendors. Obtains comparative bids for printing jobs; coordinate prepress and delivery to printer; attends press inspections as needed; coordinates the use of outside vendors to supplement design capabilities, printing, copyediting, and other resources as needed; assists marketing manager with the creation of RFP's and the selection of outside vendors to supplement internal capabilities; responsible for the procurement of printing services; responsible for the placement of print and online advertisements.

Project Management & Prospect to Applicant Activity. Manage marketing campaign tasks as assigned by the Communications & Marketing Manager; works collaboratively with the marketing manager to complete campaigns and deliverables according to project timelines; works with enrollment services team to generate reports for targeting potential applicants; oversees the process of targeting and communicating with priority prospects on an ongoing basis.

Records Administration & Management. Creates and maintains all electronic photo and publication files; develops naming and tracking conventions; maintain archives of all information/communication pieces used for recruitment and marketing initiatives; maintain archives of competitor information/ collateral samples, including advertising and electronic media; assists marketing manager with reviewing invoices and monitoring budget activity; uses existing prospect/inquiry tools to monitor the effectiveness of online and print advertisements on inquiries, conversions; assists with updating marketing related databases.

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in marketing or communications; minimum 2 year of design experience preferred; intermediate to advanced experience with design and production on MAC and PC computers using Adobe Illustrator, Quark, InDesign and Photoshop; intermediate to advanced experience using Microsoft Office programs - including graphing capabilities; beginner to intermediate experience with HTML or general web design and development ability to multitask on a variety of projects; ability to interact with and direct external vendors; ability to manage project deadlines and deliverables; ability to coordinate regular ongoing electronic and in-person marketing activities; ability to generate marketing reports in Word and Excel - including graphing capabilities; willingness to help formulate new strategies, and work collaboratively in a team environment. Previous higher ed marketing or communications experience desirable.
