Job Description:
This position will have a profound impact on the future of TheLadders at a defining moment in the evolution of the company. We are looking for a talented, high energy Director, Public Relations to join our expanding Marketing Team to develop strategy and conduct all public and PR relations programs. This includes acting with the highest professional conduct as the face of the brand with key consumer technology and PR press as well as key trade and industry groups. Execute PR strategy surrounding industry meetings and newsworthy events. Represent company in PR efforts with outside partners. Draft press releases & back up information; obtain appropriate input and issue according to plan.

This person will be the contact for reporters from all PR outlets including print and broadcast. This position is also responsible for fostering an internal PR program. This position is expected to provide input in the area of PR relations focusing on driving PR, including HR, Internet, Consumer and Consumer Technology.

The successful candidate will thrive in a team environment, contributing actively to successfully build knowledge and image of the brand via the PR and should have excellent PR relations skills with demonstrated results, strong leadership and organizational skills, and excellent written and oral communications skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee PR activities to develop feature stories on the Company and generate relationships with key local and national reporters / maintain PR contact list
• Work closely with key personnel to build and execute strategic public relations programs to build the image of brand
• Focus on each aspect of the brand in building press coverage and effective event strategies/participation, customized by PR channel, specific target writer, or target trade/consumer group. The resulting press coverage will act to build the image of the brand as world-class
• Comfortable working closely with Senior Executives (particularly, the CEO) – communicating, guiding, advising and coordinating public appearances
• Unlock ways to tell TheLadders.com story in the PR
• Get millions of dollars of PR coverage by spending thousands
• Drive increased executive level participation in public relations activities
• Closely coordinate public relations plans with Marketing campaigns to ensure consistency of message
• Manage external PR agency
• Coordinate PR plans with Marketing strategy and external advertising/marketing agencies
• Ability to develop strategy, prioritize, and execute on innovative public relations initiatives
• Develop an internal PR/PR capability for TheLadders.com
• Develop annual and quarterly PR Plan for the organization
• Develop new concept and PR initiatives to help build awareness through the PR in 2007 and beyond
• Communicate to the PR marketplace the company short and long term goals as well as the “job” data and visitor community

Requirements

• 8+ years experience in public relations/communications/journalism (newspaper, online, broadcast & publishing); including 3+ years of experience in consumer technology, preferably on the Internet; some agency experience preferred
• BA in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing, or related discipline, Master’s preferred
• Extensive experience with consumer technology brands
• Highest standards of professionalism
• Ability to work effectively with other staff and departments
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects, balancing “the big picture” while attending to details
• Ability to interact with all levels of management
• Experience in managing an external PR agency
