According to Michael Goodman, small businesses can and should "experiment with various ways of getting the word out to current and potential customers." Here are some innovative tools he has found:
Reach Local is an online service that manages a company's marketing effort on the Internet. They can help the small business establish a presence on the Internet and advertise effectively to its target audience. Their services might include search engine advertising, organic search optimization, placement in common online directories, and optimizing the business's Web site for maximum impact.
They charge clients for performance—on a pay-per-contact basis. You only pay for the legitimate leads or contacts received. If you receive none, the service is free.
Spot Runner helps both B2B and B2C small businesses advertise on television. They can put your company on broadcast or cable television for less than most companies spend on radio or print advertising. Goodman says, "SpotRunner isn't the only company that does what they do, but they are probably one of the best."
They have a library of high quality video clips from various industries, products and service categories that they can customize to your specific needs. They are a one-stop shop—production, media buying, execution and evaluation.
The Po!nt: There are resources offering small businesses much-needed assistance to increase the effectiveness of their advertising and help them compete on a level playing field with companies 10 times their size.
