Sweat-Free Ways to Check Your Social Pulse

March 9, 2012

Once in awhile we need tools that can help us maintain our social chops. To help you bring some coherence to all the noise across Twitter and the blogosphere, we've compiled a list of powerful and, in some cases, lesser-known "oldies but goodies."

Take a minute to consider these social monitoring tools; you might benefit from using even the less familiar ones:

Klout. Rising in popularity only after rigorous updates and promotion of its algorithm, Klout provides Twitter and Facebook users with "influence" scores. Plot them in a graph against friends (or competitors) and see what type of influence you have. Seeking a big name to align with? A "Celebrity" may not always be accessible, but a "Broadcaster" or "Taste Maker" may do the job just fine.

Google Zeitgeist. Check out this yearly report to see what the world is searching.
