Newbie Blogger Blunders to Avoid

May 9, 2012

You're a new blogger, bursting with energy and excitement. You're sure your new blog will inspire myriad comments and countless social shares. But even though you've published a few posts, your blog isn't getting any comments or shares at all. What are you doing wrong?

Perhaps you're making some of the typical newbie blogger blunders that Danny Brown writes about on his blog in a post titled "12 Common Mistakes New Bloggers Make."

Copying a rock star blogger's style. Inspired by popular bloggers, many rookies end up imitating their heroes—and doing a poor job of it. Great advice. I think one key point you make that cannot be stressed enough is that if you are going to blog then you need to be yourself. And define what it is that you uniquely bring in your blog to the cluttered space. There will likely be many hundreds and thousands of blogs in your broad category - you need to define a niche and angle that differentiates you!

Also, provide value to your readers is another key point to add. :)
