Visual content is crazy-hot these days, and the hottest place for sharing it is Pinterest. Traffic to the virtual pinboard site has shot up exponentially in the past year.

But how effectively are businesses sharing their visual content on Pinterest? Unfortunately, not very. Most companies grab images from wherever they can and share them with little aforethought. Savvy content marketers, however, know the power of Pinterest and share content purposefully.

Plan your pins. Don't haphazardly pin everything that remotely ties into your business. Instead, Medd suggests, share visual content that displays your company's personality: "You can...create interesting boards on your profile that represent your company's values or aspirations as opposed to just its core products."
