Dear Small Business Marketers,

I have a fun announcement: MarketingProfs is launching a book club. See our story below about the first book, Citizen Marketers. The article describes the reading group and how you can join it. We'll be using Know-How Exchange to carry on the group discussion. So those of you who participate frequently in the forum will notice when the discussion begins in January. For anyone else, be sure to email CK, the book club host, to join her list to receive an email alert.

In addition, you'll find below two interesting articles. The first is our Premium story about marketing to the segment known as the "Millennials." The second is a handy primer on some key aspects of pay-per-click advertising.

Then find out what's new this week in the forum. Learn about the pros and cons of email attachments, and play back our popular seminar about direct marketing.

I hope you enjoy this newsletter. Happy Friday!

They're going to have a huge impact on business and marketing, and the world may be better for it.

Five Proven Ways to Waste Money With Pay-per-Click Advertising
Pay-per-click advertising is the biggest lead-generation breakthrough to come about in a long time. For small and midsize companies, in particular—and thanks to its ability to narrowly target prospects, tightly manage spending and precisely measure results—PPC is one of the most efficient lead generation tools ever developed. It does, however, have a downside.

KHE community members
love a good challenge!

My Question Title:

Type a specific title here.
Limit: 50 characters.

On the next page you will have a big space for your full question.

This topic comes up frequently among direct marketers, so we were happy to see it hashed out in the discussion forum this week. Frequent participant telemoxie wonders what the cut-off limit is for a reasonable file size for attachments going to new prospects. He also raises the question of download links vs. attachments. In a very rare show of solidarity, the experts almost unanimously agree in their recommendations.

Know something about horses? Or know someone who knows something about horses? There's an open question in Know-How Exchange just for you. We couldn't help but smile when we saw this off-topic discussion and two members' willingness to help out. (Nice job, Chris, turning it into a business topic.) Hmmm ... Or perhaps EVERY question is actually a marketing question in disguise?
