Marketing For Tv Stations

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I'm looking for a book that specifically deals with marketing issues and strategies for TV stations (media). I have general books as well as those that deal with specific industries such as financial services but would like to get one that addresses TV stations (if such a book exists). Thanks a lot for any help you can provide.

I'm not aware of any marketing books specifically for TV stations, and I'm not sure that books on ad sales for print are going to be very relevant. (I'm not even sure they're still relevant for most print vehicles!)

My suggestion is that you get a really good general marketing book -- like "Kotler on Marketing," for example -- and draw the parallels you need from the examples he gives. I don't think it will be that difficult, and all the fundamental marketing principles will apply in some way to your business.

When you say "TV Stations" I am not exactly sure of whether you're speaking about a book that talks about how tv stations market their content or themselves. I assume you're speaking about advertisements so...

Try "Life After the 30 Second Spot" by Joseph Jaffe. While it isn't exactly a "TV Station" marketing book, it address advertising in that sense. I would also suggest reading Jaffe's and Greg Verdiono's blog (which are both free, so why not!):

    Hopefully those help.
