Today in history, the first drive-in movie theater opened in New Jersey, in 1933. A young auto sales manager got the idea from his mom's discomfort in traditional movie theater seats. Not many drive-ins remain today, but they were an iconic part of American culture for decades for families and hopelessly devoted teens alike.
