I think the biggest issue is YOU and your willingness to work the program. That said, make sure it a network that offers a variety of products/services AND the focus is on delivering that product/service NOT on recruitment.

Would definitely say that you have to compare your expectations with what they offer. How do they differ from their competitors such as support, financial rewards and quality of services.

What are you selling or what are you marketing?
It depends what you are doing and what the affiliate program is and what it offers. So study the affiliate program well.
Some companies do well with affiliate programs some do not.
Depending on what your product is, I would do a lot online and counteract it with print, magazines, radio, tv or at least flyers/newspaper.

Are you marketing world wide or just in America, or your city? Remember Internet is a local medium not a world medium. So don't spend time and money on a world medium thought process if you don't have the money to back it.

After you take these into consideration take what the guys above me said, because those are also true. See if it is worth it for you.
Remember things work, but you have to believe in it and work at it. You won’t see big results at the beginning. But you have to be in it for the long haul. So be ready to spend money and time. In all, it is hard to help without knowing your company, so it depends on you and your company.
