Targeting Advertising On Cable

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I run a wedding business, I'm just starting out and have a small budget for advertising. I have a Marketing background and am inclined to advertise on cable so I can pinpoint my target audience with pictures and sound.
Here's my question, I've narrowed my choices to 2 channels- is it better to run my ads in the evening (my desired time slot) when longer movies are playing or on another channel in the evening when shorter, half hour shows are playing?
I'm thinking people will be more likely to get up and use the bathroom and get food during the commercial during a movie, but perhaps more likely to watch the ads during and between sit coms. Any thoughts??

If you can select the shorter program you will be running during, that is the best bet. I would do my best to advertise during shows that are clearly female oriented. I know many will argue with me, but the real purpose of men in the wedding planning business is to carry the walet and provide the groom.

Instead of researching the breaks, find out from cable owners the demographics of the people watching the programs. The probability of watchers taking bathroom breaks between both programs is equal- its the demographics of the eyeballs that each program attract that should be your primary concern as a marketeer cum media buyer.
Ideally run the ads in both slots- have seperate call in numbers for each channel- evaluate business generated over a 2 month period- you will have your answer.
