Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
Hi all,

We are having a website meetoncamera.com dealing with web conferencing and related subjects and with a homepage PR of 5.We are offering ad space in it at a rate of $10/month on

the topmost right panel of the website homepage. We are providing static links and the rate is for unlimited clicks. Is this a competitive rate? Or is the market rate greater or lesser than

this?Who all can be the target audience?

thanks

The best way to know if this is a competitive quote is to visit competitors websites and put in a query. Coz thats exactly what your customers will do before going in with you.

not a bad rate. you can target parents who work abroad, away from their families. or vice versa. just advertise where you can find them. for example, be in websites where you think that kind of market would normally visit.

It’s probably at the bottom end of what I would expect for a respectable site. Given your current Alexa rating, it rather implies that you are on the cheap side, rather than inexpensive. Still, if it is part of a drive to boost your ratings, then something in the hen and the egg equation has to come first.

The most sought after slots on the more popular sites are also taken by advertisers who are prepared to pay a premium, so the test will not be what your overall rate is, but what it could be if you made the slot attractive, by context and by page-feeds to a top payer such as a financial services advertiser. Relevance will drive the value of your slot.

One of my clients introduced a specific page just for this purpose which was promoted over and above the Home page as a landing point. The page impressions than made the advertising slot extremely attractive to an insurance / investment company.
