Looking For Copy Editing Software

Posted by melissa.paulik on 125 Points
My team is spread across several continents and includes writers whose native language is something other than English. Most of our communications need to be written in English. The team does a fairly good job, but I still spend a significant part of my time editing for readability and word useage.

I know I can't remove the human element and expect to produce the kind of copy we need. However, does anyone have a recomendation for a software application that is designed to review marketing copy that may help them improve their basic copywriting skills?

We use the tools in MS Office today, but they aren't very sophisticated. Bull Fighter is also fun to use, but doesn't really have the depth necessary to help the team improve.

Thanks!

There are several choices to consider.

My preferred choice is ClearEdits (available from www.clearwriter.com).

Another popular choice is Stylewriter (from www.stylewriter-usa.com).

For ease of use and cross culteral usability, I would recommend Open Office.

Open Office is free, and very useful. At least everyone is working in the same platform. You cna drag and drop between contributions without having to reformat signifigantly.

    Grab Open Office from here:

Just wanted to let everyone know that I ended up purchasing Stylewriter. It seemed to be closest to what I was looking for. Thanks for the recommendations.

Curious to know why the answer containing the solution you used wasn't the answer you accepted.

    Win,

I thought I had accepted your answer when I responded to it, but I must have neglected to click the box. My apologies. I'm not sure there is anything we can do about the points, but if the monitors of this forum tell me there's a way to go back in a reopen so you can get the points awarded, I would be happy to do that.
