Should We Hire A 3rd Party Advertising Firm?

We have created a higher education simulation, the only interactive real-time hospitality course available on the web today. We would like to sell corporate industry specific advertising.
1. Do we approach and solicit corporate advertising departments ourselves, or should we hire an outside advertising or consulting firm to represent us in this area?

    I'm an outsourced advertising / marketing kind of guy...

    ... and I'd say that one of the major factors is the size of your company and sales staff. If you have professional resources to do this in-house, then by all means you should do it in house - for all the reasons JBtron stated.

    If you do not have the resources to do this yourself, I would NOT reccomend putting all your eggs in the basket of an advertising agency. Ad agencies (and systems integrators and manufacturer's reps) are often much more interested in maintaining relationships with current contacts, and with selling whatever these contacts have already decided to buy, than in going out on a limb to promote your unique product (which you will have to sell yoursef anyway).
