Need New Business Name/ Domain Name

Hi,

Im working on a side project and needed some help with an idea. I need a new unique name for a new software technology company.

The name should represent innovation in the software industry and be easy to pronounce. Something that represents the Pacific Northwest is a plus. Words that come to mind include: Innovation, technology, knowledge, intelligence, equity, systems, services, on-demand, vision, frontier, collaboration, media.

The name needs to be very unique and not bring up to many results in the major search engines. thanks for the help.

Go to directnic.com type in any part of the name your considering and it will generate thousands of domain name suggestions this way your domain name and name match.

Here is a document you can use to have an agent register a domain name for you, then be bound to turn it over to you. http://tinyurl.com/5mny49 This is a business agreement/contract to have a third party choose and register a list of 10 domain names based on criteria you establish (as you've done in your request above) then turn them over to you once registered. This means you'd pay that person to research and purchase those domain names as your agent. Asking publicly for a name suggestion endangers the name as others who see them posted publicly can then go register them. It is best to have that done under contract if you can budget an agreed-upon rate for the research and cost of registration. Most agents would ask for a fee and costs up front and would stipulate that in such a contract as well.

In addition to above, you might consider using most registrars to research names yourself as it is standard for those registrars to provide suggested variations to your name if it is taken - even if available, those suggestions can sometimes be better than your own ideas. Those names can then be added to your list of ideas. Agonizing over choices is definitely not worth it. Domain names can be purchased for $7.95 or less at many registrars and the cost is tiny when looked at as a business cost. Those you don't use, you can let expire without regret or keep as alternates to use for related business purposes. I adapted a Hamlet soliloquy (To Be or Not To Be, The Domain Question) in 2000 about this and recently reposted to my blog when I heard of entrepreneurs struggling to decide on a domain name. Buy many potential domains and choose the best - don't discuss them until they are purchased (to prevent domain squatters from registering them) and don't use Network Solutions to research them as you WILL lose them then. (Do a search for "Domain Frontrunning" or "Domain Tasting" to see why not.)
