    Hi smridhikapahy

it seems this question is supplemetary to the earlier question you have asked regarding the same topic.

IMHO, there should be ethics invovled in celebrities promoting certain types of consumer products/brands, i e. Tobacco, alcohol, baby food etc.

back in the 60s tobacco companies used movie icons like Greta Garbo and others as celebrity endorsement of cigarettes. But now its proven fact that tobacco DOES KILL people. So there is an ethical question here using Celebrity endorsement in Tobacco brands. This also applies for promoting Alcohol to minors.

Tobacco giant British American Tobacco (BAT) has developed its Marketing Code of Conduct in which it says that it will not use, among others
    - celebirty to endorse
    - show any minor as a smoker of its brands in ads of communications

Food Giant Nestle faced wrath of govt. of many countries for doing unethical practices (i.e celebrity endorsements)in marketing its baby foods (i read that in newspaper, i remember, cant give u the exact country name or date) in the 80s.

    hope this helps

    cheers!!
