Presenting To A College Class.....

Posted by Anonymous on 50 Points
I have an opportunty to address two college marketing classes. Each is 50 minutes long. Topic is to be real world marketing techniques to use when marketing a small firm. Intended to be a chance to communicate what the marketing world is really like outside of a textbook. I think I am ok with content, however if anyone has done this and has any suggestions on what to focus on in that limited time frame, I would welcome them. I am also looking for suggestions on doing something fun to get the students interested, maybe something at the beginning to wake them up. Thanks

    hi lsebbens,

    i am a student!!!

in my first year we had an ex -student do one of these things. well what can i say he gave us the facts about marketing and some funny stories about when HE WAS in Otago. he also told us how he works 10 hour days and has stopped the EXCESS drinking.

well now he is the Brand Manager for "Tui" (it is a brand of beer that people form Otago are staring to take up), he told us that he was a lazy drunk and spent 5 years getting his degree ( a 3 year course). At the end he invited EVERYONE in the lecture to a FREE BEER at the Caption Cook (one of the many many bar on and around campus). lets just say the event was VERY successful.

you could give away some free product from your company or maybe show them a video of an Up coming AD campaign (wink wink) and start the buzz.

    Yes, make it practical...

Involve the group by asking them to identify potential problems. Write them all down.

Then split them into smaller groups and ask each one to solve one problem.

Then get them to explain the solution to the group.

They'll end up doing all the work, and they'll learn far more from the process.

Several good suggestions here, however can they be accomplished in one 50 minutes class?
