Marketing Services To Celebrities.

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
A colleague is interested in marketing his services to celebrities (he's an established architect).

My sense is that this is a 'who you know' audience... one where you get their business based on referrals, but you have to be on the 'inside' first.

He's looking for the best way to break-through... where to put his energy/focus. PR? Direct mail? Personal introductions?

I agree with Amanda and mbarber. One of my clients managed to get a HUGE amount of celebrity endorsement and customers from contributing to and appearing at the same charities and by getting into the gift bag tents at award shows.

Take a camera with you and take as many pictures of celebs at your booth and with the architect for use in your solicitations ( as long as they are not commission based, i.e. T.V., Radio, print) such as your website and brochures you hand out to potential clients.

The "gift" could be creative...as in little mini models of some of the designs, a picture book with previous work and available plans, or you could go the hat and t-shirt route. Personally, I like the idea of the little models and/or the picture book, combined with a "cool" t-shirt. Since your friend is an architect, I'm sure they can come up with a t-shirt design with the logo and some killer architectual graphics (a linear design in a blueprint color scheme as the background behind the logo?).

When designing whatever it is you intend to give away, think like a star and ask yourself "Would I wear that t-shirt?" or "Would I like to have that picture book lying around my house?".

Good Luck. If you need anymore pointers, perhaps I can ask my client for some names and numbers!
