We have a client who wishes to implement an award program - whereby, whenever a customer makes a purchase at any "participating store", after the purchase is paid for with a credit card - ANOTHER CARD is presented by the customer and swiped by the vendor/retailer.
By swiping this SECOND card, "reward points" are (somehow) determined and allocated for the purchase - based upon the purchase amount - which accrue to a rewards account. This rewards account is NOT tied into, related to, or redeemable at the credit card company.
Where my company comes in - is, based upon the many and various purchases that customers make in a variety of retail stores, customers build up their reward point totals, which they can redeem on our customer's award site which we create, manage and host.
We are looking for more information on the types of cards that are required, and the logistics of how these programs work.
We have "friendly" competitors who have advised us that they have explored and quoted this type of program previously, but chumminess only goes so far in business. Now its up to us to figure out how to make it work.
Thanks to all,
Wayne
