Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
How can an art publisher excite the trade on limited edition prints ? what are the various marketing techniques without extra expenditure on collaterals ? Also, is there a way to control how they use our collaterals effectively?

There are already a number of avenues for limited edition prints. If you are going online (wholely or in part), you will need to set yourself apart from the pack in some way. You will need to have some kind of marketing campaign regardless of your venue. If by "collaterals" you mean brochures and print ads, you could get around those if you're going to be online, otherwise there is no way to NOT have some kind of printing costs. Don't go cheap either or you risk offending your potential buyers.

As to your question about "control," you will control what you PAY for...to a certain degree...but if your passing out brochures and other printed materials, probably not. You can put watermarks and other imbedded images in the pictures to limit their worth for copying, but it WILL happen.

The best outlet for limited edition prints will probably come from galleries who specialize in them.
