Ideas For Hospital Grand Opening

We are looking for some creative, out of the box ideas for a hospital grand opening. The group is faith based and opening in a fast growing county that does not have a dominant city yet. They have a good track record in the area and did a fabulous ground breaking that set the bar pretty high.

We are looking for some completely different ideas for the grand opening. There may be ideas from other industries that we could adapt or perhaps you have heard of or attended something that just absolutely impressed you.

    I would advice to do something that people do not expect in a hospital. Something that is not related to health. I organised events for 5 years and the one thing everybody found great where events with actors, not visible as actors. I give some examples: on a sunny day a woman in a ski-outfit (complete with ski's) enters the party. Or a person dressed like a homeless with his belongings in a bag. He is dirty and smells but he wants to enter the party. In the beginning he asks people in the parking what is happening. "Is there a party?" After a while he gets inside the building invited by another guest that he has convinced to take him inside.... I admit, this act is shocking in the beginning...but... after a few hours this actor disappears and comes back half an hour later in another outfit, doing another act. In your case, he can be e.g. a "weird" doctor... People were shocked by the homeless man in the beginning but when they notice they have been fooled, they love it! They will talk to all their friends about this act and more important they will never forget it was on your party!

    Dunk the CEO. Try a dunking tank, always a big hit and very much fun for people attending.

    If you have enough lead time, try contacting your most popular local evening news anchor and ask is he/she will agree to come to help the charity and be dunked!

    At our hospital, we are currently looking for a fabulous idea for our daytime VIP event. We need something that is visual, striking and would involve one of our internal VIPs. I welcome thoughts on that striking visual event highlight. The event is soon, too. Thank you!

    These are fantastic ideas. I am currently planning an Open House for our nursing home. We have new owners and they have changed our name from nursing home to Health Care Center to bring a more progressive feel to the name. Any ideas for my Open House would be much appreciated. I have refreshments lined up and a drawing is a possibility but I need a key piece that will be memorable and stand out. I am excited to plan this and talk with others with fresh new ideas.
