Hello, I am looking for a brief critique of this website for a local mortgage broker. Please list specific likes/dislikes as a CONSUMER that would be shopping for a mortgage. What appeals to you? What doesn't?

Thank you

I am not crazy about the big flash. It doesn't add much value and keeps distracting meeting me from other things. The other disadvantage of it is that it does not help search ranking any as it search engines do nothing with flash. You are therefore giving up a lot of real estate on the page with out any gainl.

I was a little confused about the property listings as I thought this was going be a mortgage broker site by the looks of the header, not a real estate site. You might need to clarify more about what you do. I view financing as seaprate thing from buying or selling property. I do not think it is a problem to have both on the site, but you might want to re-title it or come up with a new tagline that covers both.

I was expecting more mortage calculation tools to help me figure out what can be one. Perhaps rate listings or a range of rates.

Overall the site is nice and clean and the layout works well.

    Hope this helps,
    Mike

    Hi, Melissa

First of all, I think you did a really great job on this site. Any critique I give is only to help you improve the site.

I actually liked your flash feature but I do think it should stop after 3 plays or so...once I've had an opportunity to view the entire message. I'd stop at the contact info.

Searching for properties. Footnote to use the SHIFT key to select multiple locations. I didn't see that noted anywhere.

I overlooked the interest rates section as no info was loading. This was blank on my screen.

It wasn't clear to me that the "Quarter Down" and "Term-Inator" were special PROGRAMS until I clicked through to read more. You might want to head them up as programs and the icons weren't meaningful to me.

I didn't find any info in the "Buying a Home" section on pre-qualifying for a loan before beginning to shop. All realtors I worked with required pre-qualification before they would show homes.

Speaking of homes, you vacillate between the use of "house" and "home" in your content.

When I selected "HOME" (as in Home Page) from the "Buying a Home" section, I wasn't taken to the same sized page that I originally landed on and the Interest Rate, Quarter Down and Term-Inator section did not load. It took me to the https://..../real-estate page when selecting "HOME."

It bothers me that you squished "Business Links" into a smaller font to fit the button.

The first paragraph of the statement from Mike Gill doesn't say anything to me. Possibly begin talking about how happy he is to have served XXXX clients and what he did for them and what he will do for ME.

While I like the general layout and color choices of your site, it seems to float on it's own with no color changes outside the center of the page (to suggest a border) to keep my eyes from wandering off the center of the page.

This is all the further I went on your site but would be happy to review in further detail (page-by-page) if you feel it's needed after further critique by other MarketingProfs members.

Good job, Melissa, and thanks for accepting my/our comments.

Hi all, just want to clarify - we did not build this site, did not do any consulting or other marketing work for this company, and have not worked with them in the past. I was looking for outside feedback to support my own recommendations, which are very much in line with what you all have presented here.

    Thank you
