Common Size For Banner Ads?

Are there common sizes (pixel dimensions) for banner ads?

I have a web site which I am adding some banner ads. At first, it will be an ad on the right side of the page running vertically. But quite possible to add other sizes and positions at a later date, so asking this in a more generic way. Wanted to know if there are common sizes for these ads that I should work with to make it easier for the advertisers (that they may have art work already made and such)?

    HI,

    Ideally the size of teh vertical ads should not be more then the size of the screen. IN most of the cases now a days the screen resolution size is set to 1200 X 800. The impact of an add is more, which is visible completely without the scroll, proves more productive and efficient compare to the one which requires a scroll.

    For standard size, you can check various dimensions available with google ads, they are standard and designed based on the regular customer survey.
