Transition From Non-profit Career To For-profit

How do you transition from a non-profit to for-profit career? What job titles in a for-profit organization would translate to the job title of Development Manager in a non-profit organization?

    Start by identifying skills and responsibilities you have with your current position that translate to for-profit. Examples:
    Fundraising = Sales
    Organizing fundraising activities = Event Management
    Finding volunteers = Recruiting
    Publicizing the NFP in the community = Public Relations
    Creating campaigns to raise funds = Promotion Manager

    As a Development Manager you should have lots of experience that would be in demand in the fields of sales and marketing, especially if you were successful. Good luck!
