Best Ways To Market A Gym?

Posted by david on 125 Points
I am the Director of Sales of a Gym in Miami. I have a location that is not that great and have been under new management for 10 months. I am trying to find out what is the most effective way to market the gym. Whether it is threw online searches, business to business marketing, gorilla marketing or print media.

Providing tips and advice for great workouts via social media shows that you care about people and want to help them. (On that vein, don't forget to answer questions or pipe in with information of people that follow you.) That will make nearby, interested parties find you (research shows that people are most apt to patronize a gym that's not only clean with quality trainers/staff, but that's close to home or work).

There are also bundles of small media outlets in Miami, and chances there are some in your corner of the city. Offer to write a fitness column for one, once a month, and share them with members. If one of those don't work, begin a blog and promote it as if it was your own media -- which it really is.

Speaking of your members, provide incentives for them to invite friends and co-workers to join or use your services.

Start with why people would want to come to YOUR gym. It's obviously not the location, so why would people want to be inconvenienced to exercise. This will give you some core reasons for choosing you.

Next, figure out who would want to come to your gym. How old? What community of people are they connected to (online? club? neighborhood?)? Focus your marketing on their community - whether that be flyers, email, Facebook, radio, etc.

May I introduce a couple marketing experts to you?

https://www.profitablepersonaltrainer.com/ <-- I've been following Cabel for a couple years now via his email newsletter, and he has all kinds of wonderful advice.

And, meet Bedros Keuilian (https://www.keuilian.com/). I'm on Bedros' email list too.

Now, keep in mind, I'm NOT in the gym business, and I'm following both these guys. Why? Because they have some very good marketing ideas. Sign up for their email newsletters and see for yourself. I think you will pick up more than a few tips and ideas from these guys. And, perhaps you might want to consider purchasing either some of their products, or services.

    Tell them Darcy sent you.

    Hope this helps you
