50 Year Anniversary Gutter

Posted by zorak16 on 125 Points
My uncle has a company makes metal roofing. Their main product is a gutter system. Next year is going to be their 50th year anniversary and he asked me to come up with ideas for a 50 year anniversary promotion.

One idea I had was a promotion to Like the facebook page and have a chance to win a trip to all 50 states (US).

Perhaps something to do with 50 (50% off, $50 dollars off, etc).

I am not sure what his budget is (cross country trip seems rather expensive), but I figured more ideas are better than less!

I was looking for additional ideas.

Thanks in advance!

What ultimately is his goal for the anniversary? Is it a way to generate more clients? More awareness? A give back to his previous clients? A give back to the community?

(Aside: your uncle should know that most people don't care if he's been in business for 5 or 50 years. In some cases, 50 years may indicate that they're not up on the latest/greatest. And what will he do to celebrate the 51st year, etc.?)

I don't understand why a business like your uncle's would publicly celebrate a 50th anniversary any more than a 48th or a 56th, or any other number. If he thinks there's value in appearing old, then just say "we're old."

What I would do is promote the real reason someone in his target audience should hire his company -- regardless of its age. What important and unique benefit does he deliver? Who exactly is his target audience?

If "old" is a way of saying trusted or reliable, then use those words. Otherwise nobody cares how old the company is -- except perhaps your uncle.

(I just saved him a lot of money that would have gone down the drain. I will accept a trip to just 1 state [of my choosing] ... and we can donate the balance to his favorite charity.) :)
