Tweet Impressions Suddenly Skyrocket For A Day?

Posted by sargentaks on 250 Points
The Twitter account I manage suddenly received 55k impressions on December 2nd. I usually only see 9-15k for the whole month. I didn't tweet that day and any tweets within near that date did not receive anywhere near the amount to add up to 55k. I checked Google Analytics, email campaigns, other social sites analytics, and nothing seems to answer why this spike happened. Does anyone have any ideas as to why this happened? My only theory is that Twitter's algorithm had a random glitch with my account.

My blog about sustainable energy was mentioned in an online article in Atlantic Magazine and traffic went through the roof for a short time. Too bad Twitter analytics don't let you drill down to the details behind events like yours. 12/2 was a Sunday, maybe you were linked in a newspaper article. Anyway, take credit for it -- and welcome to MarketingProfs.
