Very thorough! A key take away when in comes to optimizing conversions and sales from local search are to pay close attention to calls. Smartphones are causing local mobile search volumes to soar. And thanks to click-to-call, many of those conversions are now happening via a phone call rather than online via a form submission. I've seen some great research from Google on the importance of phone calls in search campaigns which you can find here: http://www.thinkwithgoogle.com/research-studies/click-to-call.html. If you aren't measuring calls from your Google ads and other digital marketing, your analytics could be way off. Ifbyphone has a white paper on tracking calls from local search that explains more: http://public.ifbyphone.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/Call-Tracking-for-Lo...
SEO isn't easy, but it's crucial! It's also ALWAYS changing. Take for instance, Google’s new update Pigeon! It’s caused quite the stir and has made Local SEO even harder than it already is! The biggest change that Pigeon has made is decreasing the queries that are showing in a local listing pack. With fewer 7 packs, that means to get on page 1 of the serps, you need to be in the top 3 instead of the top 7.
Great local infograph
Blair if I will add to your comment, which I really think is a great contribution...I also found yet another interesting post on How Important Phone Calls are. Here: bit.ly/1IgtpKV
